Many people use Angie's List as their source for reliable recommendations about all types of services. Imagine how great that would be for a pet sitting service like ours...
Whiskers To Tails Petsitting has been in business for four years. It was a struggle the first year as we didn't really have a website or social media and just a small client list. However, the business has been steadily growing so that now I'm busy most days pet sitting. My pet sitters are still part-timers, but their assignments are also steadily growing.
As a small business, WTTPS has had its ups and downs. We've had our website redesigned three times by three different design companies. We've rewritten the copy on our website several times to make it "search engine optimized." Our logo and brochures have gone through several iterations to make them look more professional. We've joined professional organizations and exhibited at many trade shows. We've used Google AdWords and placed ads in print and online publications.
While all of these methods have their place, the most effective way to grow a business, in my opiinion, is through word of mouth. Happily, we're now on our way to seeing this happen.
Just this year, one of my long-standing clients volunteered to put a pet sitting review about us on Angie's List. This was the ultimate compliment to me as a small business owner. Angie's List has the reputation for catapulting businesses into greatness. That may be an exaggeration, but it does help to be mentioned on Angie's website - https://www.angieslist.com.
"Relentlessly authentic reviews in over 500 categories, from dentists to roofers to antique lamp repair. Written by people just like you." Angie Hicks, Founder
According to Wikipedia, Angie's List is a website that aggregates verified consumer reviews of service companies, including pet sitters and dog walkers, as a way to "capture word-of-mouth wisdom." Angie's List has about 1.5 million subscribers throughout the United States and Canada who post an average of about 40,000 reviews each month. The concept behind the website is to certify their data collection process by only allowing paid and registered subscribers to access the website to prevent anonymous or biased reviews.
Many people I know trust Angie's List to find the best contractors for all sorts of services. We are honored to be part of this list and invite all of our clients, past and present, to publish a review there as well. Just a few moments of your time can make a huge difference to us!
On our home page, there's an icon with an Angie's List logo. If you click on it, you'll be taken to a form where you can add your review. Thanks from all of us at WTTPS!
